Trip to Waynad : A part of God's own country.

Hi All ,

Again one more update in our travel guide.

This time we planned to go for a two (25th & 26th Dec 2010) days trip to waynad and gopalswamy hills.
The very special of this trip is all the EGB members are came to this trip(since last 3 years this is 2nd trip all  are going together)
Team includes some other friends also.
Here the team :
Roshan , Prasad ,Jeevan,Narasimha,Chetan,Anil,Prathap,Amar & Madhu.
Prathap,Amar & Madhu are my(Anil) Nanjangud friends.

we all(EGB team) left Bangalore on 24th evening 6'0 clock and reached my home Gundlupet at 11.30PM.
Next day morning at 8 we left my home and started our journey towards waynad.
waynad is just a name of district in Kerala.

How to reach :

Bangalore - Waynad :
Route : Bangalore - Mysore - Gundlupet - Sultan Battery - waynad.(NH 212)
Distance : 270 KM.
Journey hrs : 7-8 hrs.

Important note : You need to cross karnataka border and also need to cross forest.
This road is closed from night 9PM to morning 6 AM. so don't plan overnight journey.

then we had breakfast in the kerala border itself , since we need to pay extra road tax for going to kerala.
Again we started our journey to Edakal caves, but unfortunately we didn't able to see that place since a construction work is going on so that place is closed for two months.
Edakal caves is trekking place , and you need min 2-3 hrs to see this place.

Sultan Battery - Edakal caves :

How to reach : From Sulthan Battery continue in NH212 for about 5 km and there you need to take left turn which will take you to edakal caves.you can see many direction boards.
Distance : 25 KM from Sultan Battery
Journey hrs : 30 min

but these are the pic's which i have taken in my earlier visit to Edakal caves.

Edakal Caves to Meenumutty water falls :

How to reach : From Edakal caves you need to take village route which is good enough and you have many direction boards which will help you to reach meenumutty falls easily.
From edakal cross its just straight route for about 14km.
Distance : 20 KM
Journey hrs : 30 min
Entrance fee :  30 Rs/person.

I suggest fat ladies/gents and also old people not to go for this trekking.
To see this falls you to go only by trekking for about 2 KM(one side) in a forest area, they made route to falls.
We all started our trekking in beautiful tea estate and also through the forest.

While going to Meenumutty falls.

Here is the meenumutty waterfalls.
